Skookum Maguire aka Robert Bennett
I used to work in the woods as a logger, but the advent of the 1980’s marked the end of most things positive in Oregon. After relocating to California with an idea of survival, I wrote a 400 page fictional account of my experiences in Oregon. No one was much interested in publishing the book, so I went to Sacramento State and earned an MA in Creative Writing.
By the time I completed the degree the economic crisis in Oregon had adjusted to a state of new normal, from which it never really recovered. So I wrote 4 mystery novels, a literary novel, and published a collection of short stories. I continue to write short stories for literary publications with some minor success. I also write novels.
